Wendy Felty - So sorry to hear of Ms. Marie's death. She & my mother met during WWII and sent weekly written correspondence back and forth for over 50 years, only ending when my mom passed in December 2008. My father was also a Methodist minister and as ministed wives had a lot in common to share. One of the stories my mom used to love to tell was of a visit the Giles' made to Maryland. They took a day trip to Gettysburg & were somewhere having a picture taken of the 2 families. When the photographer told them to say "whiskey" they broke out in hysterical laughter. She was well known for her "home made bread". A skill I never mastered but did consult her when I was taking a class at our local vo tech. She never missed a birthday, always sending me a card and in recent years calling every now and then to check in. My prayers are with you all as I am sure you will miss her as much as I. May God Bless.

Sean Orlosky - My sincere best wishes and regards are with the family of Marie Giles, whom I have often heard described in glowing terms by those who knew her. From what I have been told, she was surely a remarkable woman, and deserves to be remembered with affection and joy by those fortunate enough to have known her.

Patricia M. Truax - Garnie,George and Kara, I know what you are going through at this time. I never met Marie personally but we did speak on the phone a few times and sent Christmas cards the last five years. As I listened to Garnie speak of her Mother I could tell she was a very remarkable woman and loved the Lord with all of her heart. As you know I was baptized at the College Ave Church in the early 60s. We left Muncie before Rev. Giles came and for that I am sorry. I feel as tho I missed out on knowing a wonderful and loving woman. Garnie please call me if you just want to talk. Iam nearly always here. Love Mom Truax

A pastor's wife, a mother, a teacher, she did them all well. She will be very greatly missed. If you need anything, even just to talk, feel free to ring me. Love you all and, remember, nothing is bothering her now. She's hanging out in the best place that can be imagined!!

Carrie Newsome - Kara and Michael, It was such an honor to meet you and get to know your grandma. She reminded me so much of my grandma. Rest assured that she is not in pain nor is she suffering any longer. I know it isn't easy to say goodbye, but you guys did everything that you could and I am sure that she would be proud of all that you did. Hang in there and God Bless You All! Carrie SNT-9N

Alice Spangler - First, I am so sorry to hear about Marie. She was a very special woman in so many ways and I know she is missed. I should explain how I knew Marie and why she was so special. Marie and Dale were in Point Isabel, IN at the time I was a young child. My parents were Evadene and Donald Phillips, which may be a familiar name to you. Marie was such a supporter and encourager - she was the first adult (other than my relatives) that I knew in my childhood. I can still recall her kindness, intelligence, strength, and integrity. My parents, especially Mother, maintained contact with your family for several years. Marie took care of my brothers and sister occasionally - usually an emergency type of situation. She was there for us, as a friend and neighbor. Our backyards were next to each other. I was so thrilled when I met up again with Marie when I started attending College Avenue United Methodist Church. She was so kind and made me feel happy, and she always asked about my parents. She wrote a comforting letter to me when my Mother died a few years ago. I just now read it, a few minutes ago, and it brought back so many memories. I hope that what I am writing to you can be as comforting. Alice Spangler

Todd Ladd - Marie was a true blessing to me while serving at College Avenue. She was still involved in ministry when many have stopped long ago. We just heard the news of her passing and wanted to share our condolences. Marie and her sister Lois are celebrating in heaven together now. Both beautiful women were saints in the church. Peace Todd Ladd Delphi UMC
