Muncie - Muncie—Ancil L. Staggs, 85, passed away Wednesday morning, June 16, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 28, 1924 in Muncie, the son of Charles and Elsie (Moore) Staggs. Ancil attended Muncie and Selma schools, and was a buyer at Owl Drugs in Muncie. He served in the United States Army Company C 247th Engineers, and was awarded five Bronze Stars. Ancil enjoyed walking, listening to the radio, telling jokes and the Bearcats.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Florence (Riley) Staggs, Muncie; daughter, Ruth Blankenship (husband, Bobby), Muncie; son, Richard Staggs, Muncie; four grandchildren, Maria Antrim (husband, Dannie), Muncie, Richard Brown, Muncie, Heather Benton, Muncie, and Melissa Brown, Parker City; three great-grandchildren, Hayley, Hadley, and Leila; and four siblings, Rebecca Clark, Muncie, Charles Staggs (wife, Genesse), Muncie, Joe Staggs, (wife, Dot), Denver, CO, and John Staggs, (wife, Dorothy), North Carolina.

Ancil was preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings, Charlene Bartlett and Eugene, Edgar, Perry, and Jackie Staggs.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 12:00 p.m. until service time Friday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
