Muncie - Muncie-Betty C. Yount, 95, died early Tuesday morning, June 15, 2010, at Westminster Village following an extended illness.

She was born in Marion, the daughter of Dr. John and Iva G. Hamilton Knott, moved to Hartford City as a child, graduated from Hartford City High School in 1933, and came to Muncie in the fall of 1933.

Betty married Lowell Yount in 1937 and later worked for Muncie Newspapers, now Star-Press, from 1956 until 1977. She was secretary for Advertising Director Wayne Botkin, then Publishers William C. Worcester and James C. Quayle.

Mrs. Yount was a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than seventy-seven years, Ball Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Beta Chapter, Tri Kappa Sorority, and two area bridge clubs. After retiring, she worked as a volunteer at Ball Memorial Hospital for several years.

Surviving are her son, John D. Yount (wife, Debby), Yorktown; son-in-law, Joseph Wilson; five grandchildren, Lisa Yount (fiancé, Murray

Skeens), Savannah, GA, Lori Silano (husband, Dave), Springfield, OR, John Ryan Yount (wife, Jeanann),Yorktown, Julie Austin (husband, Adam), Muncie, and Jeff Wilson Orlando, FL.; five great grandchildren, Brent and Brittany Austin, Peyton and Parker Yount, and Owen Silano.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell of fifty-seven years in 1995, her parents, her daughter, Janet Wilson, sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Straley, and brother and sister-in-law, Harley and Freda Knott.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday June 19, 2010, in the Chapel of The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd. with Pastor Carrie Jo Miller officiating. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Mausoleum.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd. from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, or one hour prior to service time on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the Little Red Door 401 W. Jackson St., Muncie, IN 47305.

I will always fondly remember answering many calls from your mom, John at the Hoffer St. office. She was always the cutest on the phone. Much thoughts of love in your time of sorrow.

Terri Yount-Muncie - Betty was a part of my life for over 45 years. She always held a very special spot in my heart and the hearts of our children. She was one of a kind and we will all sorely miss her. There is solace in knowing she is now with those she has loved and missed for so long. My sincere condolences John.
