Muncie - Muncie – Hallie M. Pierpont, 100, passed away Saturday morning, June 19, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born, May 25, 1910 in Lancaster, OH the daughter of Martin H. and Florence C. (Strahan) Bechtel, moved to Muncie as a child and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1928.

Mrs. Pierpont was a member of College Avenue United Methodist Church, Delaware Country Club, YWCA, and past president of Burris Mother’s Club. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Well Baby Clinic at the YWCA, and a Camp Sing-A-Long Committee Member.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane Cooper, Jacksonville Beach, FL and Karen Malone (husband, Michael), Racine, WI; eight grandchildren, Catherine Cooper, Donna Younger (husband, Chris), Robin Cooper (partner, Colin Beck), Tracy Whelan, Brian Malone, Diane Malone, Mark Malone, and George Graham (wife, Andrea); four great grandchildren, Stephen, Alexus, Kemp, Sarah, and Austin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert H. Pierpont in 1991; her son, R. Joe Pierpont in 2008; her son-in-law, Milton Cooper in 2008; three brothers; and four sisters.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in Elm Ridge Mausoleum with Pastor Keith Williams officiating. Entombment will follow.

Friends may call at Elm Ridge Mausoleum from 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service.
