Muncie - Muncie – Michael Heishman, 62, died suddenly Saturday, June 26, 2010 at his residence.

He was born in Logansport, October 8, 1947.

Mike worked for Indiana and Michigan Power for 23 years. He was the line servicer for Hartford City. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was the decorated with two Purple Hearts.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Heishman, Muncie; three sons, Zachary Heishman, Muncie, Eric Heishman, Indianapolis and Shawn Heishman, Logansport; three daughters, Kiley Heishman and Christina Ann McCarty, (husband-Thomas), Muncie, and Erin Harter, Angola; and five granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.

There will be no calling. There will be an open house at his residence Saturday, July 3, 2010.

The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Steve Ybarra - I am so sorry for your loss. I recently retired from I&M in Ft Wayne and had the pleasure of working with Mike for many years. Vicky Russell - I am very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I only met him a few times, but as a dispatcher talked with him often. He was a very hard worker and always took the calls no matter what. Erin (Heishman) Harter - Michael is also survived by seven biological grandchildren; Sage Heishman, Zoe Heishman, Senta Heishman and Colton Heishman of Logansport and Grace Wagner, George Wagner and Gus Wagner of Angola and a eighth grandchild due in December. Michael's mother, Edna Pearl Collins, is also survived by Michael and lives in Logansport.

Tom Armstrong - Diana, I have been ponderin for 5 days for words to describe Mike still drawing a blank. Whether it was as a friend,foreman,sds, or sevicer when the chips were down and you were deep in the trenches Mike was always there shoulder to shoulder with you. I consider it a real honor to have spent 25 years of my life knowing him. Our familys thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dean Noye - My thoughts & prayers are with your family. I had met Mike a couple times when he was with Muncie. But I have worked with Mike many times via the phone or radio at the dispatcher center. I am sure Mike will be sorely missed by a lot of people. May God bless your family!!!
