Muncie - Muncie—H. Ray Murphy, 84 passed away Monday evening, July 12, 2010, at Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born June 18, 1926, in West Virginia, the son of Clarence and Ruby Murphy. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ray worked as a toolmaker for General Motors for 34 years until he retired in 1987. He enjoyed blue grass festivals, antiquing, and attending auctions.Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruby (Hiatt) Murphy, Muncie; one sister, Catherine Anderson, Winchester; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Services will be held 12:00 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2010, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Rev. Robert Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
