Muncie - Muncie—Jeannette Bonnell, 95, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Muncie Health and Rehab Center after an extended illness.

She was born June 10, 1915, in Muncie, the daughter of Chester and Grace (Irwin) Lockwood. Jeannette graduated from Muncie Central High School. She married Robert O. Bonnell on June 14, 1934. Jeannette went on to work in a factory in World War II and worked for Rogers Jewelers for twenty years.

Jeannette was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church, the Eagles Lodge, an officer in the Women’s Auxiliary Moose Lodge and in later years attended Gethsemane United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Bonnell (wife-Martha) and David Bonnell (wife-Pat), both of Muncie; two grandchildren, Carolyn Neff, Muncie; Robert E. Bonnell (wife-Billie), Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Neff and Taylor Bonnell; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her twin brother, Robert Lockwood and two sisters, Virginia Macy and June McFarland.

Services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2010, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Rev. Herb Claar and Rev. Vickie Perkins officiating. Cremation will follow with urn burial at Elm Ridge Cemetery at a later date.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Joyce Smith - To David, Pat, Robert, and Carolyn Sorry to hear of Mamaw's passing. She did have a good long life. It was a bitter-sweet passing when my Grandma Mickey died last year, as I'm sure it is for all of you. She is in a better place with no more aches and pains. Mike and Jeanell Sheffield - Martha and Richard/David and Pat--We were all so sorry to hear of Jeanette's passing. Sorry we were unable to attend her funeral or calling but hope you all know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Dean and Marilyn are currently in San Jose with Dean's step-mother as she is in very ill health. They heard of Jeannette'sdeath and we were in touch during that time. Please know that we all are thinking of you and know that she lived a wonderful life. Her spirit and great personality will always be remembered.
