Selma - Selma—Helen “Christine” Goble Small, 77, passed away Thursday morning, July 15, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born May 21, 1933 in Kermit, WV, the daughter of Dallas and Sarah Ann Goble. Christine graduated from Kermit High School and married James Small in 1952. She was a homemaker and worked at Westinghouse. She loved spending time with her family and cooking. Christine attended True Light Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, James Small; one son, James Dallas Small (wife, Kathy); two grandchildren, Brian Small (wife, Amanda), and Michelle Lewis (husband, Brent); one great-grandson, Tyler; a beloved sister, Ruth Skaggs (husband, Doc); several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and special neighbors, Bob and Martha Clayburn.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1220 Meridian, Anderson, IN 46016.

Prentice Meade and Family, East Kermit, WV - I am so sorry to hear about Christine passing away. Sorry we won't get to attend the services, as Aileen or I haven't been feeling up to par lately. Christine and Ruth has always been like sisters to me. I have alot of memories there at East Kermit, that I will always cherish. Keeping the family in our thoughts and prayers.

David and Lois Viars - Our hearts are so sad at the passing of Christine, but it makes us so happy to know that she is no longer suffering and is now with Jesus, Dallas, Sarah Ann and so many others who have gone on. We know that we will be able to see her again in a brand new body on that glad reunion day. What a day that will be!! But until then, may God give you comfort and strength to bear this grief. The entire family is in our prayers. We love you all!!!

Ima Moore, Dublin, OH - I am so sorry to hear about Christine's passing. She was so dear to me and almost as close as a sister. We talked on the phone very regularly. I will miss her so very much. It is so comforting to know that she is in a better place without any pain and suffering. To the family, just put your trust in God and He will comfort you and give you the strength to go through this time of grief. Please know that you all are in my prayers and I love you very much.

June Blackburn Sydenstricker - I was so saddened to hear of Christine's death. We were classmates at Kermit Hight School and I have many good memories of her then, as well as at some of our reunions. I know she is with our Savior and may you have His blessings during this sad time.

Rev. Mack Sparks, Mandarin, FL - I am so sorry to hear of Christine’s passing. She and I were in the same class of 1951. She was an example as to how young people should conduct their lives and she always maintained the highest of integrity. I’m sure her family will miss her. I believe she is in a better place now Christine was an excellent student and one that was admired by her classmates. LeeAnn (Hathaway) Anderson - I am so sorry for your loss & send my deepest condolences. I worked with Christine at Westinghouse back in 1975/1976 during my senior year at Muncie South. Christine was such a sweet & caring lady that I will always remember.
