Muncie - Muncie—Michael C. Lewman, 59, went to be with the Lord at 7:10 a.m. Friday morning, July 23, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

He was born August 8, 1950 in Muncie, the son of Earl and Virginia (Stansbury) Lewman. Michael grew up in the Muncie area and graduated from Delta High School in 1968. After graduation he was employed at Borg Warner Automotive for 8 years working in tool and die. He then completed his career at Delphi Automotive, formerly Delco Remy, working his way from tool and die to finishing as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Michael retired in the spring of 2008 after 32 years of employment. He was awarded with 4 different patents in conjunction with his work in the manufacturing field.

He was an absolutely wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren and spent numerous hours spending time with and playing with them. His other hobbies included fishing, playing golf, watching the kids play sports and many other activities.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy A. (Lehnert) Lewman; two sons, Andrew Lewman (wife-Amy), and Paul Lewman; his grandchildren, Noah Lewman, Avery Lewman and Ayden Lewman; brothers and sisters, Monica Lewman-Garcia (husband-Jose), Janice Bloom (husband-Robert), Eugene Lewman, and Margaret Lewman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Penny and Fred Prow, Cathy and Faron Hall; nieces and nephews; John Rohert III (wife-Jennifer), Tricia Hallow (husband-Todd), Ed Miles (wife-Dayna), Kelly Kring (husband-Neil), Tony Miles (wife-Donna), Joshua Garcia and Melaina Garcia; great nieces and nephews, Kelsy Dishman, John Rothert IV, Journey Rothert, Michael Hallow, Pvt. Jordan Hallow, Cassidy Hallow, Zachary Hallow, Chandler Hallow, Hannah Hallow, Stephanie Miles, Taylor Kring, Dyllan Kring, Wesley Kring, Jaelen Kring and Colbey Kring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rachel Lewman and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Goforth-Lewman.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Avondale United Methodist Church, 1314 West 10th St in Muncie with Pastor William Frank Jones and Neil Kring officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel in Muncie, on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., or after 10:00 a.m., Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Delta High School Library Fund or the American Heart Association.

Since retiring and moving to Arkansas in 2006 we have been blindsided when we read of a friend's death in the newspaper. There is a plan for all of us. Here's hoping we all meet again someday. Barbara (Curt) Mullins - I am so sorry for your loss I know you don't know me but I lost Curt 7-8-10 and I know how very hard it is to loose someone that you love so much. Mike Porch - I am shocked and dismayed to hear of Mike's passing. Even though our friendship was brief, Mike and I had become good friends after our retirements from Delphi having spent many hours together in Bedford, Indiana and Chihuahua, Chi, Mexico during 2008 and 2009. In the brief time I knew Mike I came to realize how great a man, father and grandfather he truly was. He will be sorely missed by those that knew him, and my condolences and prayers extend to all who loved and enjoyed life with him.

Mike and Margaret were the very first friends that I met when we moved to Eaton. Their mom came to buy eggs from us and we became friends. Mike's good heart will be remembered always.

Marvin (Barney) Harvey - I am sure that you don't know me, but I worked with Mike in Plant 3 of Delco Remy in the late 80s and earlyl 90s. I retired in 1993. I also helped him pour cement for my son-in-law, Jeff Farr back in the 70s in Chesterfied. I was in Puerto Rica when Mike passed away. Mike was a great friend and I am sure he is missed a lot. Again, I am sorry for your loss.
